Chief Accountant
Job Description
- Develop and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Offer data-driven financial insights and actionable recommendations based on analysis and trends.
- Manage the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded with precision.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile accounts and address any discrepancies.
- Collaborate in the creation of the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Track variances between actual results and forecasts, providing detailed explanations for any deviations.
- Ensure adherence to tax laws, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and internal policies.
- Lead and coordinate internal and external audits.
- Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and implement necessary updates to accounting practices.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide junior accountants and accounting staff.
- Develop and refine accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and foster the growth of the accounting team.
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure optimal liquidity.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable processes to ensure timely collections and payments.
- Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions to manage financing and banking needs.
- Partner with senior management to create financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives.
- Provide strategic financial advice on key business decisions, investments, and risk management.
- Oversee the implementation and utilization of financial software and systems.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and lead upgrades to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA is preferred)
- 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Experience with financial software such as Xero.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
