Mapping Technician
Job Description
- Calculate mapmaking information from field notes, and draw and verify accuracy of topographical maps.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Collect and verify geographic data from surveys, aerial photographs, satellite images, and fieldwork.
- Interpret and digitize map features such as roads, boundaries, and landforms.
- Ensure map accuracy by cross-checking data from multiple sources.
- Update and modify existing maps to reflect changes in topography, infrastructure, and land use.
- Work with surveyors, engineers, and urban planners to support mapping and land development projects.
- Generate reports and visual representations of geographic data for internal and external use.
- Ensure compliance with mapping and surveying standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Calculate mapmaking information from field notes, upload the data from Global Positioning System (GPS) to Geographic Information System (GIS), draw, lay-out of maps and verify accuracy of topographical maps.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to interpret spatial data accurately.
- Experience with GPS technology and field data collection is a plus.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous work-related skill, knowledge and experience on GIS.
- Must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training in order to perform the job.
- Must be willing to relocate in Rizal Palawan
